My Story

Hi! My name is Megan and I am the owner of Bend Your Nutrition, a virtual nutrition practice based in Sublimity Oregon, serving clients near and far! I am a former junk food junkie, turned health food foodie! I have always loved food! Cooking and baking are two of my favorite hobbies, but I fell into the nutrition world without even knowing it would become my passion in life. I am a Functional and Holistic Nutritional Therapist serving clients virtually, as well as in-person in the Salem, Silverton, Stayton, Sublimity and the surrounding areas. My goal is to help women naturally manage chronic abdominal pain, bloating, fatigue, and joint pain, so they can feel more confident in their body, increase their energy and get back to enjoying the things they love. I guide my clients through this process by using a whole-body and mind approach, working towards optimal health and wellness. We always adjust diet and lifestyle, but for client really struggling with uncomfortable symptoms, I utilize lab tests (digestive testing and food/chemical sensitivity testing) as well as supplemental support to help bring the body back into balance.

I want my clients to learn how to reach optimal health through a variety of measures including diet and lifestyle but also allow for appropriate flexibility in life. We are human and on occasion, we may want to indulge in a sweet treat. Having the knowledge about the kind of sweet treat we’re eating and the mindset of knowing it’s not an everyday habit; this is where strength and willpower are built. My personal rule is the 90/10 rule. This means that 90% of the time, I eat my very best, consuming whole, organic nutrient dense foods including lots of colorful veggies, some fruit, grass fed meat, free-range chicken and eggs, wild caught fish, healthy fats, etc…On the flip side, 10% of the time, I give myself a pass to eat at restaurants, go to BBQs, birthday parties, happy hours, have coffee and a pastry with a friend, etc… I pick and choose when and what I want to “indulge” in because it’s not a daily habit. Knowing I have that 10% flexibility, is enough wiggle room to keep me on track 90% of the time. When people are working through their healing journey, they typically have to be more strict in the beginning, but this is often temporary until the body comes back into balance.

Through my training, I discovered that I had my own digestive issues. These issues were affecting my life and causing symptoms that I thought were “normal.” Turns out, those symptoms were a direct result of my body and my immune system dealing with my diet and my digestive issues. This led to various symptoms like headaches, muscle aches, brain fog, stomach bloating, skin issues, fatigue, etc… I even developed multiple food and chemical sensitivities due to my digestive issues. Certain foods were actually harming me rather than helping me, even though they were totally healthy foods!!!

As a Functional and Holistic Nutritional Therapist, my programs create awareness about how food impacts our body, both positively and negatively. I want to create a safe place for people to feel comfortable talking about their digestive issues. We all eat food, our body processes it, and then we poop it out. It’s part of our function, and there should be no shame in discussing it, especially if we are struggling in this area of our health. We do NOT have to suffer from digestive issues. There are many ways to minimize or eliminate these symptoms, and that’s what I want people to know. I am here to help, and I know firsthand how difficult it is to discuss these issues and to change habits (remember, I am a former junk food junkie! 😉), but I’m SO glad I did. I opened up a whole new world for myself and my health. Now it’s your turn to feel better! If this resonates with you and you would like to learn more, I would love to talk with you! Whether you live outside of the area or are local in the Salem, Sublimity or Silverton area, we can schedule a time to chat.
